The Cincar Mountaineering Association from Livno is pleased to announce the completion of the construction of the Runolista kuća mountain shelter on Mount Troglav.

The Cincar Mountaineering Association from Livno is pleased to announce the completion of the construction of the Runolista House mountain shelter on Mount Troglav. This eco-house represents a significant contribution to the development of mountaineering in the region and beyond, and its construction was made possible by the Telemach Foundation through the Regional Grants Program. It is located at 1320 m above sea level, at the foot of the Veliki Troglav peak (1913 m above sea level). It is reached by the attractive 2.5 km long Meri trail, and can be accessed from Veliki Poljanice and from Croatia.

The clapboard house is built of wood and sheet metal in anthracite color. It has a modern design and fits perfectly into the mountain environment of Troglav. The dimensions of the shelter are 3 x 3.5 meters and it can accommodate four to five mountaineers, and in case of emergency, more. It is of an open type, which means that the cabin will always be unlocked and hikers who come to it do not have to report to the PD Cincar administration. There will also be an intelligence point of the GSS HBŽ, so in the event of an accident, rescue operations will take place faster and more efficiently.

All care for the regular maintenance of the cottage (varnishing, cleaning, landscaping, etc.) will be managed by the members of this mountaineering society, who are proud of the new facility. Its construction was a challenging undertaking, as all the material for the foundation and the house had to be carried up steep and difficult paths almost to the top of the mountain.

“All 2,500 kg of cargo needed for the construction of the bivouac was carried on the backs of mountaineers and volunteers in five organized day-long actions. We were accompanied by 50 people from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina and neighboring Dalmatia and Dalmatian Zagora. Since it was the autumn period, characterized by heavy rains and shorter days, we often carried the material in cold and rainy weather, and often returned to the car at night. The fact that there is a rather steep and demanding path leading to the house did not work in our favor either. Despite all the challenges, we did all the actions in a cheerful and good mood. Everyone gave their best and thus wove a piece of themselves into the house which, we hope, will stand proudly on one of the most beautiful mountains in the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina for years to come and entice mountaineers to visit it with its beauty” , said Jelena Bobetić, president of PD Cincar.

In addition to the mountaineers and volunteers, PD Cincar would like to thank the Telemach Foundation, which recognized the importance of this project and enabled its implementation to take place in a spirit of good cooperation and understanding. The public will be informed about the date of the ceremonial opening of the Runolista House, along with an appropriate educational hiking trip, via PD Cincar’s Instagram and Facebook page.

“We are delighted with the way in which this project was realized and proud that we supported the realization of the vision of PD Cincar members. The runolita house is not only a shelter and resting place for mountaineers, it is also a symbol of community and love for mountains and nature in general. This project is another example of how, through joint efforts, we can leave a lasting positive impact on the community ,” said Anesa Muhović, director of the Telemach Foundation.
