During the six-month activities, 30 participants went through the workshops.
The Muharem Berbić Foundation Friends Club in Kakanj successfully implemented the project “Our Creativity is Special”, supported by the Telemach Foundation’s Regional Grants Program . The project, which began in May 2024, is aimed at the professional and economic empowerment of people with developmental disabilities and the elderly through innovative and practical workshops in the field of creative creativity.
During the six-month activities, 30 participants acquired new skills and improved their independence through workshops on decoupage, aluminum foil work, tailoring, knitting and sewing. The highlight and finale of the project activities was a sales bazaar of creations organized as part of the celebration of the third anniversary of the Muharem Berbić Foundation Friends Club, where participants had the opportunity to show the results of their work and connect with the local community.
Nejra Ohran, project manager of this foundation, emphasized the need and importance of creative workshops and informal education in smaller local communities, such as Kakanj: “The interest exists, but due to the lack of professional staff and financial resources, marginalized groups in society, such as people with disabilities of different ages, and senior citizens, are deprived and excluded from social life. It is up to us to offer an alternative and inclusion for everyone, regardless of differences.”
In addition to participants in workshops and seminars, the project also included more than 150 members of the local community, as well as volunteers, educators, and local partners such as the Center for Ecology and Sustainable Development – CEKOR.
“The Telemach Foundation is proud to support projects that promote inclusion, empowerment and creativity in our local communities. The project implemented at the Muharem Berbić Foundation Friends Club in Kakanj is a true example of how, together, we can create opportunities for those who need them most. Through these workshops, not only did the participants gain new skills, but they also showed how creativity and dedication are powerful tools for connecting people, strengthening independence and enriching social life. This project is confirmation that with a little support we can achieve big changes, and the Telemach Foundation remains committed to being a partner in creating a better, more inclusive society for all” , concluded Anesa Muhović, Director of the Telemach Foundation.
