Students from Mostar planted a thousand black pine seedlings on Fortica

Students and teachers of the “Mujaga Komadina” Elementary School in Mostar, in cooperation with the Parents’ Council, organized an afforestation of Fortica called “1000 seedlings for my city” on Wednesday.

The director of the school, Semir Šejtanić, pointed out that today’s action is dedicated to the Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“In the past period, many forests in Bosnia and Herzegovina have been destroyed, and in this way the students of our school, 177 of them, together with all the employees and a large number of parents, decided to contribute to our homeland Bosnia and Herzegovina, and we dedicate today’s planting to the Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina.”  said Sejtanic.

He added that such actions promote positivism and thanked all the institutions that supported them in these activities.

“In the past few days, we prepared the ground, and after that we collected money and bought a thousand black pine seedlings, which we plan to plant today at the beautiful Fortica above Mostar. In this way, we want to contribute to all the citizens of the city of Mostar to preserve our living environment, because it is very important that our children know that apart from the need to study, they also need to work. Actions like this promote positivism and love for the homeland of Bosnia and Herzegovina ,” said Šejtanić.

Ninth grade student Omar Šegetalo pointed out that today’s action means a lot for Mostar.

“With this, we are enriching the lungs of the city of Mostar, and that is very important. In recent years, there has been a lot of forest degradation, many trees have died, and this is actually an enrichment of nature and the city that will, of course, serve everyone ,” said Šegetalo.

Eighth grade student Zara Kajan also participated in the action, who said that they are very happy to enrich their town with pine seedlings and thus  “give it to breathe again” .
