Sarajevo Fest 2024 will be held from September 15 to 22, where visitors will be able to see 9 domestic and regional productions. The sixth Sarajevo Fest deals with important topics such as independent professional media in the service of citizens, and art as a corrector of politics. “We are fighting for a unique, independent, secular Bosnia and Herzegovina. 32 years later, Bosnia and Herzegovina is not unique, nor is it independent, and we ask the question whether it is secular,” said theater director Haris Pašović.
“We often like to point out with pride that Sarajevo is a city of festivals, and it really is, because a number of very eminent festivals already exist, with decades of tradition. Those festivals need to be nurtured, developed in some way, always remodulated, critically examined,” said Dino Mustafić, director of the NPS.
As part of the festival, three forums will be held – on the struggle of journalism with authoritarian regimes, facing the future and the secular state – for which the entrance is free.
“Art corrects politics, art introduces critical thinking into our public space. And I think that this is a festival that, with its thematic selection of performances and authors who are coming, a large number of publicists and journalists, guests of this festival, really makes us think about what socio-political, but universal topics are currently burdening not only our public but also globally”, added Mustafić.
Sarajevo Fest will close with the Songs of Liberation concert in front of the National Theater.
