The European Film Academy included Sarajevo’s Baščaršija on the list of “Treasures of European Film Culture”. The list was updated on April 28, and in addition to Baščaršija, seven new locations were included.
The list includes: Scheibler Lofts in Księży Młyn in Łódź (Poland) and the picturesque port of Corricella on the Italian island of Procida special buildings such as the beautiful cinema hall Palatsi in Tampere (Finland), the Koningshaven Bridge in Rotterdam and the Swiss steamship “Schiller”, one from ships crossing Lake Lucerne. Finally, there are two historic film studios joining the list: Gamla Filmstaden in Sweden and Filmparken in Jaar, Norway.
The treasure of European film culture is part of the expanded activities of the European Film Academy in the field of film heritage, which began in 2022. The new Department for European Film Heritage has since launched a network of national film academies, cinematheques and film archives dedicated to the support and promotion of the classics of our continent.
Sarajevo Baščaršija was included after the initiative of the Association of Film Workers of Bosnia and Herzegovina .
