Federal Minister of Environment and Tourism Nasiha Pozder met with representatives of the Public Enterprise “Una” National Park at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism in Sarajevo.
Acting Director of the Public Enterprise NP “Una” Alen Zulić informed the Minister about the activities carried out in the past six months, among other things, and the achieved results, as well as the number of visits to this only national park in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They also discussed the current projects implemented by this public enterprise, and the plans for 2025. A brief report was also given on the implementation of the Ćelije – Štrbački buk road construction project.
Minister Pozder expressed satisfaction that 168,000 visits to the Una National Park were registered this year, which is a 15 percent increase compared to 2023, when around 146,000 visits were registered.
“In addition to these excellent results of visits by domestic and foreign guests, I was also very pleased with the news that the nomination file for the inscription of the Martinbrod Waterfalls on the UNESCO list was submitted today. These waterfalls are on the Tentative List and now the documentation has been supplemented so that this natural asset can be inscribed on the most important list of world heritage. I expect that the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH will soon confirm the amendments to the Law on Nature Protection, by which we have defined the new term “tuff”, as well as its protection, which is recognized as a unique value precisely at the Martinbrod Waterfalls. The inscription of the waterfalls on the Una River on the UNESCO World Heritage List will be of exceptional importance not only for the “Una” National Park and for the area of this part of BiH, but for our entire country ,” said Minister Pozder.
Acting Director Zulić said that the record number of implemented activities resulted in greater interest among visitors to the National Park.
“We were honored to receive Minister Pozder, which is just one of many in just a few months, and which confirms her and the interest of the ministry she heads in all issues, with an emphasis on those that are important for the further development of the Park. It was precisely on the basis of introducing the relevant ministry to the results achieved in the past six months that we received strong support for the continuation of the successful business trend, which is confirmed by a record number of visits, but also a record number of implemented activities, which of course contributed to greater interest from visitors ,” said Acting Director Zulić.
After the meeting, Minister Pozder and representatives of the Public Enterprise “Una” National Park visited the Federal Administration for Geodetic and Property-Legal Affairs, where they discussed spatial planning documentation and the Regulatory Plan, as well as resolving problems with parking, road stakeholders, i.e. their future position within the Park, and many other issues with the Federal Minister of Physical Planning Željko Nedić and the Director of the Federal Administration Željko Obradović, the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism announced.
