Public calls for the allocation of funds to the veteran population will be published next week

Next week, the Federal Ministry for Issues of the Veterans and Disabled Veterans of the Defensive-Liberation War will announce public calls to which members of the veteran population will be able to apply for funding.

Assistant Federal Minister for Veterans and Disabled Veterans of the Defensive-Liberation War Mirza Terzo told to Fena that the Government of the Federation of BiH at previous sessions adopted eight programs for spending of these funds in the total amount of 3.5 million BAM and underlined that there was no reduction of funds for this population.

Out of eight transfers, he mentioned the aid for the treatment of members of the veteran population in the amount of 1.5 million BAM, then aid for funerals, and provision of help for the housing issues that this population has.

The money set aside is the same amount as in 2020,” he added.

Terzo also said that the Government of the Federation of BiH, through the Ministry, paid funds for personal and family disability benefits, subsistence and compensation for the highest military decoration awarded, and that they paid more than 80 million BAM for the first quarter of 2021, without delay or reduction.

At previous sessions, the FBiH Government adopted eight programs for spending of funds determined by the FBiH budget for 2021 to the Federal Ministry for Veterans and Disabled Veterans of the Defensive-Liberation War.

Among them is a program to help two veterans’ foundations, in the total amount of 590,000 BAM. The first transfer will be in the amount of 390,000 BAM, of which 90 percent will be awarded to the Foundation for the Provision of Legal Aid to Members of the Veterans Population Sarajevo (273,000 BAM) and the Foundation for the Provision of Legal Aid to Members of the Veterans Population Mostar (117,000 BAM).

For the housing of disabled war veterans and the veteran population, one of the eight programs is planned in the amount of 200,000 BAM. This amount will be remitted to the Foundation for Assistance in Resolving the Housing Issues of Veterans.

The amount of 1,500,000 BAM has been determined for the Program of Assistance in the Treatment of Veterans, and demobilized veterans have the right to these funds for their own or the treatment of close family members, and families of veterans who died in war, as well as families of deceased disabled war veterans.

The second program, worth a total of 180,000 BAM, covers 80,000 BAM for the Association of the Concentration Camp-Detainees BiH, 40,000 BAM for the Croatian Association of Camp-Detainees from the Homeland War BiH, as well as 60,000 BAM for research and documentation activities and protection of victims and witnesses of genocide.   

The transfer for associations originating from the last war amounts to 360,000 BAM, while the program for assistance in co-financing the costs of funerals of members of the veteran populations amounts to 600,000 BAM.

The Government of FBiH has set aside 150,000 BAM for the marking of important dates, while part of the money is intended for co-financing events to mark important dates, events and persons from the war period.

50,000 BAM was set aside for the program of co-financing the construction of a memorial and a cemetery.
