Employers proposed lowering and locking prices for 56 food and hygiene products in the fourth round, which is effective from October 1. until 31 December 2024.
The Federal Minister of Trade, Amir Hasičević, welcomed this initiative and said that this time employers have shown social responsibility, especially towards the most sensitive categories, by continuing this project voluntarily despite the fact that there was a significant stabilization of prices on the market.
“We have corrected the list compared to the previous period, we have included several more items and we believe that in this way we will contribute to the quality of life of all, especially sensitive categories of foreigners such as pensioners and workers with lower incomes” , announced the Association of Employers of FBiH.
The “we lock in prices” project began on December 15, 2023, according to the announcement.
The Federal Ministry of Trade, together with the Employers’ Association, Consumers’ Associations and Trade Workers’ Union, agreed to reduce and lock in the prices of 40 food and hygiene items for three months, in order to prevent a sharp increase in prices and enable consumers with lower incomes to secure basic necessities of life. .
The protocol was signed by 32 trade entities that have more than 1,500 trade shops in the Federation.
In the second round of the campaign, which began in February this year, the number of products was increased to 50+, and several products that are most often used by people suffering from celiac disease and diabetes were added to the list.
The project had multiple benefits, consumers were able to achieve savings of about 50 KM on a basket of marked products, the demand for domestic products of producers who contributed to this action increased, prices of basic foodstuffs stabilized.
POSITIVE EFFECTS
The positive effects of the project prompted traders to extend the campaign until the end of the year.
