The municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo has completed the project of arranging the bicycle path on Apelova cesta in Trebević, it was announced.
The project to rehabilitate Apel’s road began in the autumn of last year when the Directorate for Roads of Sarajevo Canton and the Ministry of Transport, headed by Minister Adnan Štet, paved this section worth about 400,000 KM. The Directorate for Roads of the Ministry participates in the financing of the Apel road rehabilitation project.
The city of Sarajevo implemented the project of introducing a sewage network along the road, while the arrangement of the bicycle path has now been completed.
“Apelova cesta and this area of Trebević belong to walkers and cyclists. It is not intended for car traffic, which is why we finished the project of arranging and delineating the bicycle path on Apelova cesta. “Unfortunately, we noticed that in addition to the clear prohibition signs, a large number of cars pass this road, which is why we will physically close the road with ramps through which only vehicles with special permission will be able to pass,” said the Mayor of Stari Grad Municipality, Irfan Čengić.
Also, along with the bike path on Trebević, a contract on financial support for the Association “Tricikl” was signed.
The contract was signed by the municipal mayor Irfan Čengić and the president of the Association “Tricikl” Nijaz Memić. The association “Tricycle” receives financial resources thanks to the application to the Public call for non-profit associations and foundations to apply for projects that will be financed/co-financed from the municipal budget for 2024.
“The arrangement of the bicycle path on Apel’s road will mean a lot to all members of this association, but also to numerous other cyclists from our city, country and abroad,” it was stated.
