Olive growers from Neum won 68 gold medals, 14 silver, two bronze and one participation plaque.
Neum olive growers achieved extraordinary success at this year’s XIII. Days of olives and olive oils, held on December 6, 2024 in Mostar, organized by the Federal Agro-Mediterranean Institute Mostar.
Out of a total of 243 samples registered for the event, as many as 85 samples arrived from Neum, and their results impressed the profession and the public, reports Neum online.
An impressive number of recognitions
Olive growers from Neum won 68 gold medals, 14 silver, two bronze and one participation plaque. Most of the gold samples were distinguished by the characteristics of medicinal oils, which further emphasizes the high quality of products from Neum.
Expert evaluation
The testing of samples was carried out in accordance with the valid Regulations of Bosnia and Herzegovina for laboratory quality control, while the sensory evaluation was performed by the experienced Panel for organoleptic evaluation of olive oils of the Federal Agro-Mediterranean Institute Mostar. These results confirm that Neum olive oil belongs among the best in the region.
Credits to the HUUM association
A key role in improving the quality of olive oil is played by the HUUM association, which recently received a Decision on the protection of the designation of origin of food products (PDO) for extra virgin olive oil from Herzegovina. The association continues to promote olive oil through the EU4Agri – PDO project, supported by the European Union.
By becoming a member of the association, olive growers who meet the prescribed standards become part of the “Zlatne kapi Herzegovina” brand, which further increases the recognition and value of their products on the market.

This extraordinary success of the Neum olive growers is proof of their dedication and work and represents a significant contribution to the promotion of Neum as a destination that offers top-quality domestic products.
