On the occasion of the International Day of Multiple Sclerosis, the mayor of the Municipality East New Sarajevo Jovan Katic awarded the Association “Multiple Sclerosis” of the Sarajevo-Romanija region office space, as agreed at last year’s gathering and celebration.
The newly opened office of the Association is located on the Square of the Republic of Serbia and is fully equipped by the Municipal Administration of East New Sarajevo.
Mayor Katic signed an Agreement with the Secretary of the Association Zoran Tusevljak and the Director of the Health Institution “Master Fizikal” Bojan Pavlovic, which provides free examinations for people with multiple sclerosis, and treatments, if necessary.
Katic pointed out that the newly opened office is a small contribution to the work of this Association and support to all persons suffering from multiple sclerosis.
“In this way, we provide support, and we show them that we are all with them and that we think about them,” said Katic.
He added that all costs related to the work of this office will be financed, in order to alleviate the difficulties of those suffering from this autoimmune disease.
“The goal of the Municipal Administration is for the office to be located on the Square of Serbia, where a large number of people gather every day, to bring closer all those who suffer from multiple sclerosis to the population and say that it is a disease not to be ashamed of,” Katic said.
Katic thanked the Health Institution “Master Fizikal”, which together with the Municipality provided free examinations and treatments for all patients from the area of East New Sarajevo, and pointed out that this is a continuation of the good cooperation so far.
Director of the Health Institution “Master Physical” Bojan Pavlovic thanked Katic for everything that this local community does for patients with multiple sclerosis, and said that this institution will provide its maximum contribution to improving the quality of life and treatment of our fellow citizens suffering from this autoimmune disease.
Secretary of the Association “Multiple Sclerosis” Zoran Tusevljak thanked for the allocated space to the Association, because it will now, as he said, more or less be able to function, and pointed out that the Association has 220 members.
“So far, we have not had space, we have not been able to socialize or communicate with other associations of people with multiple sclerosis in Republika Srpska,” said Tusevljak.
Speaking about the problems faced by people with multiple sclerosis, Tusevljak pointed out that medicines are extremely expensive, especially for the seriously ill, and it is difficult to find them.
