Novi Val/Eko HUB Blagaj is organizing a clean up action marking the Earth Day

On the occasion of Earth Day, April 22, 2021, Novi Val/Eko HUB Blagaj, in cooperation with the Department of Economy, Utilities and Inspection Affairs of the City of Mostar, JP Komunalno Mostar, and JP Komos Mostar, University “Džemal Bijedić” Mostar – Department of Biology, Izgradnja Tojaga doo Mostar, is organizing a cleaning action the illegal landfill at the Kosor location – auxiliary runway. The illegal landfill was reported through the platform “Eko Alarm”.

The gathering of participants will be at the previously mentioned location at 08:00, and the action will last until 13:30 – 14:00.

Through “Eco Challenge 387 – Let’s make our country even more beautiful” in cooperation with the US Embassy in BiH and the American Chamber of Commerce AmCham on the occasion of Earth Day teams will be rewarded with tree seedling at 100 locations throughout BiH.

The Earth Day is marked on April 22 to strengthen people’s awareness of the natural environment. The idea of ​​marking the Earth Day was first introduced in 1969, but has been officially marked since 1992, when a far-reaching program to promote sustainable development was coordinated at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro. In 2009, the UN General Assembly declared April 22 as International Earth Day, which was first marked on April 22, 1970 at US universities.

Eko HUB Blagaj, coordinated by the Youth Club Novi Val Blagaj, was launched as part of the project “Thoughts about nature!” which is implemented by the Civil Society Promotion Center and financially supported by Sweden.
