The ninth Art Colony “Jajce art 2024” will be organized by the Jajce Center of Culture from July 22 to 25 in that city. The colony has an international character and will bring together ten academically educated artists of various disciplines from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Belarus and Croatia.
The official opening of the Colony is on July 23 at 10 a.m. in the hall of the House of Culture, and on the same day at 7:30 p.m. in the hall of the House of Culture, the opening of an exhibition of works by the author Dario Pehar, an academic painter from Mostar, will be held, along with a music and poetry program.
“Jajce Art” is another in a series of events organized by the Dom kulture, and after the Plivski Omaha and Theater Games, the people of Jajce will have the privilege to enjoy this type of art as well.
Director of the Jajce Cultural Center Fikret Čančar said in a statement to Fena that the Art Colony “Jajce Art 2024” is the youngest major cultural event organized by this institution, but that it is not behind the Plivski Omaha and Theater Games in terms of importance.
“It ranks us among the rare cities that attach special importance to fine arts, and if we know that Jajce also has a Gallery, located in the wonderful surroundings of the national monument Kršlako’s House, then Jajce bears the epithet of special cities that inherit fine arts. The Jajce Cultural Center with its small but selected team realizes large projects, primarily thanks to the financing of the Municipality of Jajce. “Culture must not be just an incidental item in the budget, but a planned and thought-out activity that will contribute to the overall progress of society, relaxation of relations in society and the creation of some new perspectives on our future,” underlined Čančar.
He also said that this year’s Art Colony is similar in its organization to the previous ones, but that Jajce offers visitors so much beauty that every visit to this city is a new experience and a new look at everything we encounter.
“This year’s novelty is that one of the Colony participants will present himself to a wider audience with an independent exhibition. The honor of being the first in that went to our regular participant Dario Pehar from Mostar”, he stated.
As in previous years, artists will create works inspired by Jajce and its surroundings.
The works created at the Colony remain in the permanent exhibition of the City Gallery, which operates at the Jajce House of Culture, making them available to all visitors to this cultural institution and the city of Jajce.
“The gallery is located in the national monument “Kršlák’s House” and started working twelve years ago. So far, it has hosted about a hundred exhibitions in the field of fine arts. The gallery has a permanent exhibition consisting of a total of 97 paintings and 20 sculptures. Of those, 90 paintings remained after eight years of the Colony’s work,” the gallery manager and also the Colony’s manager, painter Samir Hažbić, told Fena.
The official closing of the Colony with an exhibition of works created during its work will be held on July 25 in the hall of the Jajce Cultural Center.
