Through USAID’s PRO-Future Project, small grants in the amount of 300,000 BAM have been approved. The grants will contribute to building peace and trust in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the following period, 41 project proposals of youth organizations, informal groups and civil society organizations from more than 30 communities in which the PRO-Future project is being implemented will be financed and implemented in the coming period.
“It was a real challenge to choose the best among more than 200 great proposals, but at the same time it is a great encouragement to see that we have so many creative young people in the country who are ready to engage and improve life in their communities. We are very happy to be able to support some of them,” said Nera Haljevac representative of the PRO-Future.
Grants for initiatives that contribute to the process of reconciliation and confidence building in BiH, advocate for peace and a collective vision for a stable future and connect local communities, are provided, continuously, through USAID’s PRO-Future project, through small grants public calls.
As always, young creative people have devised the most imaginative ways to connect with peers through education, culture, sports, religion, art and ecology, to work together to improve conditions for young people, and to strengthen mutual trust.
This year, too, they will build peace on sports fields, go down and paddle through the beautiful rivers and lakes of Bosnia and Herzegovina, organize youth camps, learn about healthy lifestyles and how to take care of the environment, and problematize some major social issues and solutions through theater.
“Although most of them are very young people, their ideas are mature and focused on education and current issues such as health care, environmental care, violence prevention, and how to deal with the consequences of the pandemic. The projects we have chosen are full of positive energy, life and freshness and we can’t wait to see their realization”, said Emina Trnka, representative of the Institute for Youth Development KULT, which together with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is implementing a small grant program.
USAID’s PRO-Future Project in more than 70 local communities across Bosnia and Herzegovina is implemented by CRS in cooperation with Caritas BiH, the Institute for Youth Development KULT, the Citizens’ Forum Tuzla (FGT), the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka (hCA) and the Interreligious Council of BiH).
