Mostar Kultur Punkt: A new conceptual program for the improvement of urban culture

Rezon Association, the official platform of the Street Arts Festival Mostar, is organizing a new conceptual program Mostar Kultur Punkt which will take place from December 1 – 7, 2021. It will combine various contents at several locations in the city that will be points of creativity, progress and education, where individuals who have made a great contribution to the cultural scene will also gather.

The program is implemented with the friendly and partner support of the Goethe-Institut BiH, within the project IchBiH.ba, which aims to promote German culture and language through support for local initiatives in BiH.

During the realization of the program, a Mural Punkt will be located in Zagrebačka Street, which is a well-known concept to the citizens of Mostar. Local authors Karla Ćosić and Iris Ivković and street artist from Sarajevo Benjamin Čengić will work on a thematic intervention. This street will get its first mural of larger dimensions, which will give a completely new visual dynamic to the space with its impressive color and motif.

In the period from December 1 – 4, KulturStadt Punkt will be at the Gabrijel Jurkić High School of Fine Arts in Mostar, where young people will have the opportunity to learn about contemporary and public art through a theoretical and practical part at an educational workshop. Local experts in this field of art will bring German art of urban painting closer to high school students during the lecture. After the theoretical part, the participants of the workshop will have the opportunity to express their artistic abilities by going out into the public space and turn the city of Mostar into their canvas.

On Saturday, December 4, Musik Punkt will make a great atmosphere at Club 27 at MC Pavarotti. DJ Tijana ILLMN from Banja Luka will be a guest with the local support of Ploggen, who will take us through the musical historical journey of electronics before and after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

On Sunday, December 5, OKC Abrašević will become a Graffiti Punkt and we will listen to “Stories from the Walls”. The event will be organized in the form of a conversation with one of the pioneers of Bosnia and Herzegovina graffiti and hip-hop scenes. Frankie, known on the graffiti scene as LACK. So far, he has published his two books, supported by the Goethe-Institut BiH, in which he looks back at the emergence of the first graffiti on BiH soil and the influence of the German scene on the creation of his personal manuscript. With this event, the audience in Mostar and beyond will get acquainted with the graffiti culture, its foundations in our area and the challenges it faces and which it overcomes.
