Mostar can organize a conference of up to 500 guests – For a larger offer, networking and new accommodation facilities are necessary

A panel discussion entitled “Development of business tourism in the region of Herzegovina” was recently held in the Gallery of the Bishopric Center in Mostar, organized by the Tourist Board of the City of Mostar and the business portal PoslovniTurizam.ba/BH-meetings.com.

The event was attended by experts from the field of tourism and the congress industry, who highlighted the potential of Mostar and Herzegovina as an attractive destination for business events. The director of the Tourist Board of the City of Mostar, Elvira Dilberović, emphasized the importance of networking so that Mostar could make a more serious offer on the business tourism market.

– This is a UNESCO protected city. It’s already a ticket to the world that we don’t need to advertise. However, this is not enough in terms of tourism to attract more serious partners.  It is necessary to connect, network and create new accommodation capacities. At the moment, Mostar can accommodate 500 conference guests, but numbers greater than that require expansion –  emphasized Dilberović.

She also expressed the hope that the panel will make concrete conclusions and plans for further development in this area.

The panel discussion was an opportunity to present the  PoslovniTurizam.ba/BH-Meetings.com project to the public,  the first of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The project gathers all relevant services related to business tourism in one place, which enables organizers, both domestic and international, to plan and implement events more easily, the  Bljesak.info  portal reports, referring to Fena.

Project manager Josipa Terzić-Režić explained that on  their portal they mapped 40 hotels from all over BiH that have leading halls for business meetings.

Contribution to the development of business tourism

– In addition, we have included agencies and other service providers that are crucial for organizers of business events. Mostar has a huge potential for the development of business tourism, and tonight’s event focuses on the Gallery of the Bishopric Center as one of the spaces that can be used for such occasions. Everyone knows about hotels, theaters and the like, but special spaces like this have yet to shine. There are a lot of them – Terzić-Rezić points out.

One of the panel participants was the director of the Mostar Airport, Marko Đuzel, who believes that such events can significantly contribute to the development of business tourism in Mostar and the region.

– Mostar was dormant for a long time, but with the arrival of the new City Administration, it is slowly waking up in recent years. I see these events as a kind of spreading of culture, tourism and information about tourism. Looking from the point of view of Mostar Airport,  through such panels and similar events, we spread our information about flights, novelties about the Airport, generally about tourism, which the Airport should be the bearer of in the future  – said Đuzel.

By the way, this event also has a humanitarian character because the organizers decided to direct part of the planned funds for the event to humanitarian purposes.
