After the legal procedure that lasted ten years, Livno cheese received the label of excellence in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which opens the possibility for export of this product to the European Union.
The legal procedure lasted more than ten years in order for Livno cheese to receive a decision on excellence. Now, it is the only product of Bosnia and Herzegovina that has that label, small producers from the Association of Indigenous Livno Cheese Cincar pointed out.
According to the regulations made by the Association, the original Livno cheese is made from 30 percent cow’s and 70 percent sheep’s milk.
In the following period, a visit of the commission from the state level is expected in order to obtain an export number, which would open the way for this product to the European Union, which is one of the main goals of this Association.
