Today, in Široki Brijeg, Kutak sreće was opened – a cafe which employs people with disabilities will work. Namely, it is a building in which the Center for Social Work Široki Brijeg was located (Matije Gupca 10c street) and which was purposefully adapted for the needs of the Association of Persons with Disabilities West Herzegovina Canton. The City of Široki Brijeg provided the premises to the mentioned Association in order to make the conditions for their work as adequate as possible. In addition to cafes, there are rooms for various workshops that this Association organizes with its members. Also, the president of the Association Zora Mikulić pointed out that they plan to start a rehabilitation workshop soon. The Association invites all citizens to visit Kutak sreće, find refreshment, drink coffee and thus support the work of this commendable project.
Kutak sreće opened its doors today. Working hours will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Six people with disabilities have found work in this facility, and they plan to employ five more people. The main goal of this project is the inclusion of people with disabilities. “I am glad that there are ideas like this one to take things to the next level. This project will make life easier for people with disabilities, make it easier, more interesting and more meaningful for them. I hope this space will serve that purpose.
Of course, we will continue to support the work of the Association and we will be available for all their needs,” said Mayor Miro Kraljević. “I feel extremely proud and happy. Today is a great day for all people with disabilities and this should be the pride of the entire City, Canton and Federation. This is a corner and a place for all our members. Our dream has come true. Currently, six people with disabilities work in the cafe, and we plan to hire five more people by the end of the year. Twenty people are using the workshop, which was opened in December last year. Our plan came true. We are really proud. We worked day and night, there is a lot of volunteer work. The City of Široki Brijeg and the West Herzegovina Canton were our support. This fulfills many goals, inclusion, rehabilitation, recreation and socialization”, said Zora Mikulić.
