Johnnie Walker organized the planned planting of 18,000 trees above Kreševo and Kiseljak

The Johnnie Walker company, as part of the initiative “Keep Walking. Keep Planting” carried out a major reforestation campaign in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where 18,000 white pine seedlings were planted above Kreševo and Kiseljak at the beginning of this month. This initiative comes in response to the growing need to preserve the environment and protect local ecosystems, especially in light of the recent catastrophic floods that hit our country and showed how important forests are in preventing natural disasters.

Forests are not only the “lungs of the planet” – they are crucial in reducing the risk of natural disasters such as floods and soil erosion. They help stabilize water regimes, protect drinking water sources and directly mitigate the effects of global warming, contributing to cooling the Earth by at least half a degree. Every tree planted is one step closer to a healthier planet.

“Johnnie Walker dedicatedly and continuously works to reduce the carbon footprint, protect and preserve a healthy and clean environment, and actively implements its mission in all countries in which it operates, including in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our country is extremely rich in natural beauty and diverse plant and animal species, which need to be preserved,” says Ivana Radišić Hadžić, marketing director of the company Boreas, which is the organizer of the campaign.

Citizens around the world, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, could support this action by simply clicking on the website www.keepplanting.ba, giving their consent to plant a tree on their behalf. In the past five months, 18,000 people decided to support this project, and the planting was successfully carried out with the support of the Kreševo Forestry.

This project comes at a crucial time when climate change is causing increasingly extreme weather events – from record droughts to heavy rainfall that causes flooding comparable to three years’ worth of rain in just one night. The only natural shield that can mitigate the effects of such extreme situations are – forests.

Johnnie Walker once again shows its commitment to the mission of preserving natural resources and motivates us all to take steps towards a sustainable future – one step at a time, one seedling at a time.
