Ivo Medić saved money his whole life and left a fortune to his hometown

Hundreds of thousands of BAM

Ivo Medić, better known as Ivić, left hundreds of thousands of BAM to the village of Vranci. According to his will, he wants the money to be used for the road construction and other infrastructure projects in the village. The money was inherited by the municipality of Kreševo, and the few locals are waiting for the fulfillment of his last wish. He worked and saved money all his life – that is how in the Vranci village they describe, as they say, an unusual man, who left a fortune to his hometown. There is a small gold plaque as a sign of gratitude for what he has done during his life. “After one game we watched, we went home. Since he had a stroke and was an older man, he took my arm, he doesn’t see the bridge, I don’t see it either, I lit the lighter. He tells me he’s going to do the lighting, I didn’t trust him since he was always a little stingy. And I told that to a neighbor who was in a really good relationship with him, and he told me if he promised, then he will do it”, said Pero Medić, reports N1.

The story of the Kreševo benefactor is sad. As a boy, he and two brothers were left without parents. In the village, they say that their goat was bitten by a snake, the children were not given meat to eat, so the mother and father became ill. Then, the carefree boy starts working. For a piece of corn pie, he also received beatings. Medići believe that this was crucial for Ivić. “They were with relatives, and he worked everywhere for a one-time fee, he went through everything there. On ‘68 or ‘69 he moved to Germany. And there he earned money. At that time, he sold his Fićo and moved to Germany. He was a good metalworker”, says Pero Medić. In Kreševski Čelik he was the head of a tool shop, and in Germany he worked in a medical equipment factory. He made dental forceps, tweezers, everything surgeons needed. “He was frugal, maybe too much, but mostly on himself. Hence the funds that remained after his death. It was known a huge amount of money remained, and now this information has been obtained. He left behind that paper, his will, to give it all to the village,” Boro Medić points out.

Although the anniversary of Ivić’s death was marked in August, his house was still mowed and flowers planted. “My wife makes sure that it looks a little prettier. He enjoys flowers, I don’t mind watering it either”, says Boro Medić for N1. Ivić did not promise any money, so the people of Vranica did not even know that they would be part of his will. The mayor of Kreševo, Renato Pejak confirmed that all legal actions regarding the recognition of the will have been completed. They did not say exactly how much money Ivo Medić left to the village in the Kreševo municipality. According to the information people living in the village have, it is a lot of money. It could be said that the amount is close to one tenth of the annual budget of the municipality of Kreševo - a municipality that is not poor.
