The companies Novo Nordisk and Legit have broken the stereotype that games must necessarily be part of a bad, time-consuming habit. By presenting the innovative game “Lea and Leo”, they managed to achieve their goals of educating, raising awareness, but also informing the public about the everyday problems faced by people living with diabetes.

From the very beginning, the guiding star for the great story that accompanies the game was the picture book “Lea and her diabetes” created by the young designer Lea Leleta, who herself has been living with diabetes, more precisely since she was three years old when her type of diabetes was discovered 1. In a creative way, Lea managed with her picture book to achieve a great effect of raising awareness about the problem of diabetes, but she successfully combined her love for design and art, with a very humane story.
Why is it important to point out problems with diabetes?
It is estimated that over 375,000 people suffer from diabetes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, of which the largest number are type 2 diabetes, and 10% of people with type 1 diabetes, mostly children.
Diabetes as a chronic disease represents a huge health problem, which can lead to various health complications such as loss of vision, amputation of the lower limbs (disability), dysfunction or failure of the kidneys leading to dialysis, and many other complications. Unfortunately, according to statistical data, diabetes in Bosnia and Herzegovina is among the five leading causes of death in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in addition to health consequences, it also has economic consequences.

In this game, the main actors are the girl Lea and the boy Leo, who through everyday life point out healthy habits, educate about the potential problems that come with the appearance of diabetes, turn healthy habits into an adventure and challenge the player to live the game in reality and take care of to your health and healthy lifestyle habits.
