Unbelievable amounts of garbage, waste, sludge, remains of houses and objects from them after heavy rains, floods and landslides are collected in front of the Grabovica and Jablanica Hydroelectric Power Plant.
In the waste in front of the dam in Grabovica , as we noted in our photos, objects from homes that were destroyed in landslides are also visible.
The team of the Federal Water Inspectorate visited the field with, as it was announced, “a special focus on the cleaning of sediments and the endangerment of reservoirs in the Neretva valley”.
“On that occasion, together with the mobile team of Elektroprivreda BiH , they visited the reservoirs and noted that all floating waste is collected by the dam at HPP Grabovica and HPP Jablanica , and that Elektroprivreda BiH has a contract with an authorized company for the removal of this type of waste .
The activity of collecting floating waste will continue until further notice , and currently no consequences for hydroelectric power plants have been recorded,” the press release states.
From FUZIP , they add that the federal water inspectors , in order to prevent the unloading of solid waste into watercourses, reservoirs and on the shores at the locations where rehabilitation is carried out , issued a recommendation to mark the location for the landfill of solid stone and earth material as soon as possible , with the aim of prevention of damage to hydropower plants , possible blockages or new floods due to raising the level of watercourses by depositing waste in watercourses and on the banks, writes Bljesak .
