The Herzegovinian karst is attractive for scientists because of the specific circulation of underground water and the landforms that are formed in such an environment, the mayor of Trebinje, Mirko Ćurić, said today.
Ćurić and the President of the City Assembly Dragoslav Banjak visited the participants of the international course and field seminar “Characterization and Engineering of Karst Aquifers”, which is being organized for the 11th time in Trebinje, the City Administration announced.
Ćurić pointed out that this meeting is important because of the promotion of Trebinje, but also the Hydroelectric Power Plant on Trebišnjica.
This year, 35 lecturers and students from Europe, North and South America, Asia and Africa gathered, according to the announcement.
The seminar is held in Trebinje in the organization of the Faculty of Mining and Geology from Belgrade, the Geological Institute of the Republic of Srpska and with the support of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
