Heidelberg Materials Cement BiH traditionally celebrated 46 years of successful work and existence on Monday, December 16, 2024, by socializing with retirees and workers.
And this 46th anniversary was an opportunity to remember how it all began, how the factory was built and how success was built. On that Friday, December 15, 1978, after four years of construction and installation of the plant, the first tons of gray gold flowed from the Kakanje cement plant, thus starting a completely new era of construction in our region. Cement from Kakanj was key to the construction of the most important infrastructural, business, sports, cultural and residential facilities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.
The company’s CEO, Izudin Neimarlija, addressed the audience and proudly emphasized the importance of each individual in the development of the company, which has been producing materials that are used to build the future for 46 years.
– This is a story about togetherness and dedication, about the work of current and former workers who incorporated themselves into our factory and our community – said Neimarlija.
Neimarlija also emphasized that this year was really special.
– Today is the perfect opportunity to highlight what we have achieved during 2024. I can say with great pride that as of today, we have produced and sold around 780,000 tons of cement, breaking the record from 2008! And we broke this record mostly thanks to the work and dedication of all our employees, without whom we would not be where we are today, and to whom I would like to express my heartfelt thanks on my own behalf and on behalf of the entire Heidelberg Materials Management Board – said Neimarlija, adding that he expects sales to reach 800,000 tons of cement by the end of the year.
It was emphasized that this is the best year in the history of Heidelberg Materials Cement BiH so far, that all plans and forecasts for 2024 have been fulfilled and exceeded, while investments amounted to around 10 million KM. The largest part of the investments relates to the construction of a system for storing and dosing RDF, fuel from waste.
– In the cement plant, waste is used as a substitute fuel in a safe and controlled manner, which is prepared for this use according to strict rules and regulations. By using alternative fuels, we reduce overall greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to building a sustainable future – added Neimarlija.
On the occasion of Factory and Company Day, members of the Management Board of Heidelberg Materials Cement BiH, Zehra Obralija and Izudin Neimarlija, presented a donation in the amount of 50,000 KM to the Kakanj Mixed High School for the performance of construction and construction-craft works for the adaptation and repair of the sewage installation.
