The project of reconstruction and protection of wells in the Local community Grude was implemented, which was supported by the project “LocalWorks – Together for Local Development”. The project was implemented by the Center for Civic Cooperation from Livno and the Association of Citizens “Grahovo” from Bosansko Grahovo with the support of the US Agency for International Development – USAID and Municipality of Grude.
Representative of the Grude Local community, the leader of this project is Anđelka Zucić, and as she told Grude.com, 17 wells were located in the Otok neighborhood, 7 wells were cleaned and protected by covers.
In the first phase of this project, the wells were reconstructed, marked and cleaned. Samples were taken from 4 wells and biological and chemical analysis was performed, as well as analysis for the most common heavy metals.
The wells were located and marked, each well is very important to us and we want to pass this heritage on to our children. Some wells were open and it was primarily necessary to install protective covers to prevent an accident.
The locals were very active and very happy to get involved in the project.
With this kind of support, we hope to repair more wells that pose a potential danger to human health, says Anđelka Zucić.
