Grant funds for 12 new young entrepreneurs and 20 jobs in Tešanj

The Mayor of Tešanj, Suad Huskić, and 12 young entrepreneurs signed agreements on the use of grant funds to support the business ideas of young people. The result of the support of the Tešanj Municipality in 2021 is the support and registration of 12 new business entities with 20 new jobs (14 + 6), which have passed the public call.

On this occasion, Mayor Suad Huskić emphasized: “We have more and more young people who are preparing quality business ideas and who decide to start their own business. Over 80% of business entities from our program continued to operate after the end of municipal support. These data confirm the business environment in Tešanj, confirm the entrepreneurship of Tešanj and, of course, the readiness of the local community to improve local economic development.”

Since 2011, the Municipality of Tešanj has been supporting business ideas/projects of young people (up to 35 years of age) who have the idea and determination to start their own business. Support includes financing the costs of company registration, part of the gross salary of employees for a period of up to 12 months, the cost of renting or arranging business premises and the purchase of equipment. So far, there are 88 registered business entities (72 still operating), 100 jobs financed by the Tešanj Municipality, and 80 additional jobs created by entrepreneurs themselves. The quality of business ideas that are candidates for the public call is assessed by a working team appointed by people who have been successful businesspersons for many years.

The total allocated funds in ten years are around 700,000 BAM.

The young people thanked for the support and reaffirmed their determination to be part of a successful business community. Congratulating the new businesspersons, Mayor Huskić reminded that the Tešanj Municipality was the first in Bosnia and Herzegovina to launch such a project within the Strategy for Support of Young People. Today many municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina have similar projects.
