Good news for tourists: Mostar could soon be connected to Istanbul by direct airline

The Mayor of Mostar, Mario Kordić, together with the President of the Government of HNK Marija Buhač, Minister of Finance Adil Šuta, Director of the Mostar Airport Marko Đuzela and Executive Director Ibric Berberović met in the City Hall with the Assistant Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey Enver Iskurt, representatives of Pegasus Airways, and representatives Turkish media.

At the meeting, the great potential that Mostar and Herzegovina have for the development of tourism and other branches of the economy was highlighted, and the possibility of establishing a direct airline between Mostar and Istanbul was announced.

Mayor Kordić emphasized that it is extremely important for Mostar to connect with Istanbul by air and that the City will be a partner in establishing this air line.

The President of the Government of HNK Marija Buhač mentioned tourism as a strategic branch of the county’s development and emphasized that the Government will support the Airport, its infrastructure projects, and the introduction of new airlines.

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Turkey is also interested in introducing an air line between Mostar and Istanbul.

“We want to use the opportunity and work together on this project”, said, among other things, Assistant Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Enver Iskurt.

During the day, representatives of the minister, Pegasus airline and journalists from Turkey will tour the city of Mostar and get acquainted with its natural beauty and rich cultural and historical heritage.

The delegation of the Assistant Minister for Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Turkey included Director General of Civil Aviation Kemal Yüksek, Director of the Air Traffic Department of the Civil Aviation Authority M. Sefa Ceyhan and Media Advisor of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Osman Bekar.

One of the initiators of organizing the meeting was the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Mostar, Yasar Ergün, and the director of the Tourist Board of the City of Mostar, Elvira Dilberović, also attended the meeting.
