From November 10, Europe is introducing a new border system for non-EU citizens

The Entry and Exit System (EES) from the EU, the automated IT system for registering passengers from non-EU countries, should come into force on November 10, announced the European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration Ilva Johanson, the  SeeSrpska portal reports .

– I decided that the entry and exit system will start working on November 10, said Johansson, speaking in Tallinn, where she participated in a meeting with members of the EU agency for the operational management of large information systems in the area of ​​freedom, security and justice (eu-LISA). .

She emphasized that different steps are legally required before the European Commission makes an official decision on the matter.

– But today I am proud to reveal that the target date is November 10 – said Johansson.

Johanson stated that it is about the transition to the most modern digital border management system in the world, which will facilitate travel and make Europe safer and fully interoperable, connecting all existing national systems and European systems. She explained that this will replace the passport stamping system by introducing digital controls of all travelers coming from non-EU countries.

– At every single border crossing, at every airport, in every port, every single road leading to Europe, we will have all connected digital border controls, all turned on at the same time – said Johansson.

She added that the final phase of testing is underway and that the final tests are being conducted by the eu-Lisa agency, as well as by EU member states.
