On December 6, the Agency for the Promotion of Foreign Investments (FIPA) in Bosnia and Herzegovina selected the 16 most important foreign investors in Bosnia and Herzegovina who invested a total of 169 million BAM last year and this year.

10 investors were selected who invested a total of 105 million BAM in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2020 and employed 1,098 people, and six investors who invested about 64 million BAM this year and employed 1,520 workers.

According to the data of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the first half of this year, 766.2 million BAM of foreign investments were registered, while in the last year, a total of 678.2 million BAM was invested.

FIPA Director Milica Marković told reporters that the event “Selection of the most important investor in Bosnia and Herzegovina” for 2020 and 2021 is organized in order to thank investors who are estimated to have achieved the best results.

– These are companies with which we cooperate and that does not mean that there are no good companies operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is an opportunity to thank them for their contribution to the economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and of course to speak publicly about the impressive results they have achieved – said Marković.

When it comes to the criteria that are taken into account when choosing the most important investors, Marković explained that the most important thing is to operate positively, and to take into account the total income they earned and the number of workers they employed.

The director of the company for the production of footwear Alpina-Bromi from Tešanj, Suad Rošo, said that this team last year with the Slovenian company Alpina invested 5 million BAM in production, and employed another 80 workers.

Last year, companies from various industries were awarded, namely Temax from Orašje, Alpina-Bromy from Tešanj, Economic Revival from Banja Luka, Koala Automotive from Tuzla, Društvo monti and Cine Star from Sarajevo, Longwood from Cazin, Symphony from East Sarajevo, Hydraulika flex from Laktaši, and Sarajevski kiseljak from Kiseljak.

The companies awarded for this year are Eco Energy from Gračanica, AFT Bosnia from Živinice, Cablex BH from Laktaši, Virgin pulse and Transcom WorldWide from Tuzla, and Cineplexx BH from Sarajevo.

In addition to representatives of the most important investors, the ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers, as well as the Central Bank and the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The selection of the most important foreign investors was organized at the premises of Greenpark by Symphony in Trebević in East Sarajevo.
