Citizens of Novi Sarajevo will be able to watch films from the program of the 30th Sarajevo Film Festival in the Children’s House on Grbavica Cinema, which meets all the festival and technical standards required for participation in the organization of such a top event.
The municipality of Novo Sarajevo in cooperation with the “International Center for Children and Youth Novo Sarajevo” made it possible to watch the latest films for all ages this year at Grbavička bb in two time slots.
From 6:00 p.m., screenings from the Children’s and TEEN Arena programs are planned, while at 9:00 p.m. there is a combined program of feature films from various festival programs such as: Summer cinema Metalac, Competition program, Documentary program, Dedicated, BH Film and programs Summer Screen.
The Sarajevo Film Festival will be held from August 16 to 23, 2024.
It will be opened with the world premiere of a new film from Bosnia and Herzegovina. “After the Summer” directed by Danis Tanović. It is a comic drama in which a young woman comes to a remote island to solve the issue of family inheritance. The search for inheritance becomes a search for one’s own identity, but also for forgiveness.
In the BH Film selection, the feature-length documentary by journalist Lejla Zvizdić “Valley of Čupova” will be shown. The film premiered on the 28th anniversary of the reintegration of the settlements of Grbavica, Vraca and Kovačići in the “Goran Čengić” sports hall.
This year’s festival program includes more than 250 films from all over the world, of which 57 films are from our region, which will be featured in four selections of competitive programs.
In recognition of their exceptional contribution to the film industry and art, this year the honorary Heart of Sarajevo will be awarded to actor, screenwriter and director John Turturro, Hollywood actress Meg Ryan and director, screenwriter and producer Alexander Payne.
