Information on the state of organic production in Bosnia and Herzegovina was adopted, which emphasizes the need to continue monitoring EU legislation and implement activities to harmonize domestic and EU regulations in this area.
Today, the BiH Council of Ministers tasked the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations to, in cooperation with the competent institutions of the entity and Brčko District of BiH, continue activities on the adoption of the state law on organic food production in accordance with the recommendations of the Seventh Meeting of the Subcommittee for Agriculture and Fisheries between the EU and BiH.
Previously, the Information on the state of organic production in Bosnia and Herzegovina was adopted, which emphasizes the need to continue monitoring EU legislation and the implementation of activities to harmonize domestic and EU regulations in this area.
The information stated that the value of the export of organic products from BiH in 2022 was more than eight million euros, and it was produced on more than 1,700 hectares of agricultural land.
It was pointed out that the encouraging growth in the number of organic producers, processors and areas in organic production and agricultural incentives is not yet sufficient for the development of the organic sector in BiH to its full potential.
It is added that a real and strategic determination of policies and the implementation of adequate measures and additional investments and incentives are needed for the accelerated growth of organic agriculture in BiH, given that there is a growing global demand for these products, the Council of Ministers of BiH announced.
