A team of students from the Elementary Music School in Bugojno participated in the 4th eUPSHIFT workshop, solving the problem “How could we establish a single city orchestra for all citizens?”. After realizing that some of their peers did not have the opportunity to attend music school, these hard-working young people devised a way to bring music culture closer to everyone — through the education of their peers. Their wish is to start an “Orchestra for All” in which all young people from Bugojno who are interested in music would participate.
Tara Šiljak, Arijan Duradbegović, Amel Cetin, Adin Kurbegović and Ena Hozić make up Team 7. In their mission, they are selflessly and unreservedly supported by the staff of the Elementary Music School in Bugojno. Under the leadership of teacher Advan Bauk, this team regularly rehearses, performs and hopes for a larger number of young people who will be involved in the work of the orchestra and future educational and cultural-artistic activities.
Through the 4th eUPSHIFT workshop, these students procured the equipment needed by the “Orchestra for All” to include young people who do not attend the Elementary Music School in Bugojno. The Team 7 stated: “Some of our peers cannot afford to pay tuition, attend extra classes and buy the instrument they need. We don’t want that to stop them from learning about music and mastering playing an instrument. Everyone should feel the power of music and at least try it.”
The initiative of Team 7 in Bugojno was supported through the UPSHIFT program, implemented by the Humanitarian Organization “Genesis Project” in partnership with UNICEF in BiH, with the support of the Kingdom of Sweden. eUPSHIFT aims to help young people put their idea of improving the local community into practice.
