Mayor Nusret Helić and National Director of SOS Children’s Villages of BiH Malik Garibija signed an agreement on the financing of the SOS Children’s Village project in Gračanica, thus continuing long-term cooperation in the field of creating safe conditions for a carefree and happy childhood of children without parental care.
The National Director of SOS Children’s Villages, Malik Garibija, and the Director of the SOS Children’s Village in Gračanica, Slađana Skenderović, introduced the mayor to the most significant activities of the SOS Children’s Village through prevention programs, youth centers, family integration programs in the local community, etc., all with the aim of reducing the number children in alternative care and enabling families to stay together.
New projects that will be implemented in the Gračanica area in cooperation with USAID have also been announced, and relate to families at risk of human trafficking (the problem of begging).
Given that the SOS Children’s Village also includes vacant houses with accompanying outdoor facilities for children, the representatives of the SOS Children’s Villages emphasized that they can be made available for the needs of the local community and projects focused on children, including the possibility of expanding the city’s kindergarten, space adaptation for associations of general interest and the like.
