Co-financing of soup kitchens in Sarajevo Canton

Today, mayor of Novo Sarajevo Municipality dr. Hasan Tanović signed agreements on co-financing soup kitchens from the Sarajevo Canton in the Municipality building. The signing of the agreements was also attended by the Minister of Labor, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees of the Sarajevo Canton, Ivana Prvulović.

This year, the Novo Sarajevo Municipality supported the work of five soup kitchens of associations and humanitarian organizations: Serbian Humanitarian Association “Dobrotvor”, Humanitarian Organization “Merhamet”, Humanitarian Pastoral Organization “Caritas Vrhbosanske nadbiskupije”, Municipal Red Cross Novo Sarajevo and Humanitarian organization “Kruh svetog Ante Franjevačke provincije Bosne Srebrene”.

In his address, mayor dr. Hasan Tanović pointed out that the funds in the amount of 24,000 BAM were allocated for the additional costs that soup kitchens should provide to users from the Novo Sarajevo Municipality.

“This year, our wish was to distribute packages with basic foodstuffs, fresh fruit, products for maintaining personal and family hygiene and the like to the users of public kitchens, in addition to regular meals. The municipality will, as before, continue to support the work of public kitchens in order to provide assistance to those who need it most, “said the mayor. Tanovic.

Representatives of soup kitchens thanked the Novo Sarajevo Municipality and the Mayor for announcing, for the first time this year, a public call for co-financing the work of soup kitchens, in order to distribute funds to all soup kitchens of Sarajevo Canton, which have users from Novo Sarajevo.

The Minister of Labor, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees of Sarajevo Canton Ivana Prvulović supported the engagement of the Novo Sarajevo Municipality of when it comes to assistance and support to humanitarian associations and soup kitchens, emphasizing that this year the Ministry allocated more than 2 million BAM for six soup kitchens.
