Sarajevo, the city of UNESCO film, is organizing the Night of Cinema, a special event that will be held for the first time on December 28 as a gift to the audience. During the New Year’s holidays, Cinema Night will open the doors of Sarajevo cinemas for one night and enable the citizens of Sarajevo and tourists to enjoy movies for free.

On Cinema Night, December 28, from 5 pm to midnight, the audience will be able to enjoy free programs in cinemas in Sarajevo: Cineplexx, CineStar, Ilidža Multimedia Center – Igman Cinema, Meeting Point Cinema, Novi Grad Cinema and Free Cinema Valter.

Cinema Night will be held symbolically on the day the Lumiere brothers held the world’s first cinema screening, December 28, 1895, in Paris.

Cinema Night in Sarajevo is modeled on the French film festival – La Fête du Cinéma, which has been successfully held for 35 years and gathers a large number of visitors, where citizens await the film festival and visit the cinema. We hope that this event will become a tradition in Sarajevo, which was officially declared the city of UNESCO film in 2019.

As a proud member of the UNESCO Global Network of Creative Cities, the City of Sarajevo strives to offer rich and diverse cultural and film content available to all citizens and visitors of Sarajevo through creative films, supporting the Cinema Night event.
