Charity dance performance “Freedom For All” with Gazan dancer Karim Azzam

The humanitarian dance performance “Freedom For All” with the dancer from Gaza, Karim Azzam, will be held on Thursday, August 29. in front of the Sarajevo Youth Theater

Organized by the association Kontakt, in cooperation with the dance school Fresh Generation Sarajevo, on August 29. starting at 18:30 on Jurisal Korenić Square – in front of the Sarajevo Youth Theater, there will be a humanitarian dance performance – Freedom For All. The performance will be performed with a dancer from Gaza, Karim Azzam, dancers from the group Fresh Generation, dancers Ahmed Alghraiz (Camps Breakerz), Khalifa and DJ KONTRA.

Karim Azzam (26) comes to Sarajevo at the invitation of Kontakt to collaborate with dancers from Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is Karim’s first trip in his life outside the borders of Gaza and Egypt.

He has been working with the children of Gaza since the beginning of his dancing career, so the war finds him in Gaza in October 2023. Karim continues his work in order to support children and make them forget about the horrors of war, at least for a short while.

“From October 7 to today, over 16,500 children were killed in Gaza, and more than 17,000 lost both or one of their parents. Every day we witness the horrors that are happening in Gaza. Even in such conditions, Karim continued to organize dance workshops with children and gives them the opportunity to step away from reality at least for a moment. Karim’s work is extremely important because we know from our own experience what a negative psychological impact war has on children. We regularly followed Karim’s work on social networks and Kontakt’s team decided to invite him to Sarajevo, which he gladly accepted. We knew that it would not be easy to implement, but we were persistent in ensuring that Karim gets a visa and cooperates with dancers from Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo. With the humanitarian performance “Freedom For All”, we want to support Karim’s work, which he continued with the children of Gaza who fled to Egypt, where Karim currently resides. During the performance, you will also have the opportunity to help. That’s all we can do,” said Narcisa Cvitanović, director of Kontakt.

All visitors to the performance will be able to make voluntary monetary contributions on the spot, in the boxes marked for that.

The realization of this event was helped by Municipality Centar, KUD Lola, Pozorište mladih Sarajevo, Securitas BH and Pomozi.ba.
