After Sarajevski, one more kebab in BiH is protected

In a big step to preserve the gastronomic tradition, Banja Luka ćevap was recently entered in the Register of guaranteed traditional food specialties in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This decision was made by the Food Safety Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, following the request of the Association for the Preservation of the Guaranteed Tradition of the “Banjalučki ćevapa” specialty.

PRESERVATION OF QUALITY AND AUTHENTICITY

This status brings important changes for all producers and distributors of Banja Luka kebabs. Anyone using this mark will have to go through a process of confirming compliance with the product specification with an authorized assessment body. This step is crucial to preserve the quality and authenticity of the product.

The application for registration of Banja Luka ćevap as a guaranteed traditional specialty was submitted at the beginning of the year, and the Commission for Registration of Marks of Origin assessed that it was founded, with no complaints received. This initiative not only strengthens the identity of local products, but also promotes the preservation of culinary traditions.

With the new status, Banja Luka ćevap becomes even more recognizable, which can contribute to the development of tourism and gastronomy in the region. This protection will help preserve the tradition and allow consumers to enjoy the authentic taste of this specialty.
