The information contains activities that were carried out after the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina had previously initiated the procedure for accession to the IOC, with the aim of supporting the further development of olive growing in Bosnia and Herzegovina and protecting consumers in this area.

The Council of Ministers of BiH adopted the Information of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations on the accession of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the International Olive Council (IOC – International Olive Council) based in Madrid (Spain).

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations is obliged to continue activities in the direction of the accession of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the International Olive Council.

The information contains activities that were carried out after the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina had previously initiated the procedure for accession to the IOC, with the aim of supporting the further development of olive growing in Bosnia and Herzegovina and protecting consumers in this area.

By joining the IOC, Bosnia and Herzegovina will accept the standards in this area included in the European Union’s regulations, which is significant not only for EU membership but also for the development of sustainable and responsible olive growing in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In addition to harmonizing legislation with the EU in this area, membership in the IOC encourages the abolition of trade barriers, the intensification of technical cooperation on research and development projects in the production of olive oil and oil from olive pomace and table olives. It also promotes product quality control, international trade, and suppression of fraudulent practices and counterfeiting with the aim of consumer protection.
