Sarajevo – The reforestation campaign has been completed, within which the Henkel company in cooperation with partners, the retail chain Mercator and the company Forestry “Srednje Neretvansko” d.d. Mostar (Jablanica branch), planted 3,300 black pine seedlings on the fire-destroyed parts of the Prenj mountain.
“By implementing actions like this one, we are helping the forests of Herzegovina to recover after environmental disasters. We are happy that more and more legal entities from the real sector recognize the value of reforestation, that they want to get involved and make a contribution that not only helps renew one of the most important natural resources, but also significantly raises the collective awareness of society as a whole,” said Mirhana Tuzlaković Acting Director of Forestry.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is rich in forests. Unfortunately, every year large areas are destroyed in fires, which also represent one of the greatest dangers to their survival.
“Every planted seedling is a new source of clean air both for us and for the generations to come. We are glad that we were able to contribute to the revitalization of the burned areas of the Prenj mountain and we thank our consumers and partners for joining us in this action. Following our sustainability strategy, we will continue with projects that contribute to environmental protection,” said Aida Rogonjić, Key Account Manager at Henkel.
The campaign was also supported by the Mercator retail chain, enabling customers to make a direct contribution to the reforestation of the Prenj mountain by purchasing Henkel’s Persil, Perwoll, Somat and Bref products.
“We are very proud that, in cooperation with our partner Henkel, we have successfully implemented this important project of reforestation of the fire-destroyed areas of the Prenj mountain. We are happy with the fact that our customers always recognize the importance of such actions and provide us with their support. Mercator BH will continue to support projects of social importance that aim to raise awareness of important topics for our society and community. Let’s protect forests because they are the most valuable natural resource and wealth that contributes to a better quality of life”, said Irena Miličević Vukoja, Director of Marketing and PR of Mercator BH.
