The workshop was designed as an interactive reading of stories, with a discussion about the importance of books and creative activities.
On the occasion of celebrating the International Children’s Day and the anniversary of the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, Bajkologija – children’s bookstore and publishing house, in cooperation with UniCredit Bank, organized a creative workshop for children located in the Home for Children Without Parental Care in Bjelava yesterday.
The workshop was designed as an interactive reading of stories, with a discussion about the importance of books and creative activities. As part of this initiative, UniCredit Bank donated books to the Home for Children Without Parental Care in Bjelava, with the aim of enriching the library of this institution and providing access to quality books adapted to the children’s age. In addition to donating books, bank representatives also held a financial literacy workshop through which they introduced banking to children, providing basic information about money and how to manage money as a way of empowering them and preparing them for the world of adults.
“We believe that every child has the right to access quality stories and books and that the right to a book should be one of the basic human rights. Books and education provide children with the opportunity to develop their potential and build skills that will accompany them through life. Reading not only enriches imagination and knowledge, but also helps children realize their dreams. This workshop shows how much stories can enrich a child’s world” , they said from Baikology.
The initiative called “Books for children, rights for the future” aims to raise awareness of the reading and financial literacy of young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina through interactive workshops.
“Books and knowledge are the key to the future. We believe that it is especially important to give the most vulnerable groups in our society the opportunity to love books, but also to learn about the importance of money. Strengthening the development of communities, we pay special attention to the most vulnerable groups in our society. We want to provide everyone with equal opportunities and empower boys and girls to readily enter the world of adults. We are glad that we are launching this initiative on this very day, and that we will visit girls and boys in other cities of our country as well” , said Selma Riđanović Kenović, Director of Identity and Communications of UniCredit Bank.
In the coming period, Bajkologija and UniCredit Bank will organize similar workshops in other homes for children without parental care throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the aim of providing support to children and promoting the importance of reading.
