A street artist patched a hole in Mostar with colorful mosaics

Mixing countless shapes and sizes of colorful ceramic tiles, sometimes shiny stones and bits of glass and steel, Ememem uses a quick-release adhesive to hold the artwork in place.

The street artist, known for his unique approach to enriching city spaces, entertained the people of Mostar. His work is focused on repairing the street, and now he has patched the hole with a colorful mosaic in the center of the city.

It is about an anonymous man who introduces himself as “Ememem” from Lyon, or the pavement poet and macadam surgeon. He says that his artworks “illuminate the wounds of the urban fabric.”

Mixing countless shapes and sizes of colorful ceramic tiles, sometimes shiny stones and bits of glass and steel, this anonymous Frenchman uses quick glue to hold the artwork in place.

His works are often inspired by local culture and tradition, and this mosaic will further enrich the visual identity of Mostar.

“My only goal was to bring a little more poetry to this city,” said a guest from France.

During his stay in the city, Ememem worked in different locations, using unique elements of the environment to create installations that enrich the visual identity of Mostar. Through their works, they explored the beauty of often overlooked parts of our communities, pointing out their potential.

These outdoor mosaics take between an hour to complete and these outdoor mosaics can be seen anywhere from France to Norway to Spain and cities across Europe including Paris, Madrid, Barcelona and Milan, and starting today in Mostar.

He has also exhibited in galleries and museums, but the street remains his true love, having grown up playing outside and absorbing its carefree, humorous culture.

The artist arrived in the city on the Neretva at the invitation of the Rezon Association and Street Arts Festival Mostar, and considering how many holes Mostar has, he could rent an apartment in Mostar 🙂
