Every day we hear stories about young people leaving this country, how they do not have a job, how a university degree is just one of the papers you need for the employment office and similar stories. I have heard “lectures” many times from different people about the fact that I made a mistake in choosing the faculty, with 101 arguments, which of course ends with “do you know how many economists do not have a job?!!”
For a long time, I thought these people were right. I couldn’t find myself in any subject in college, I barely study anything, nothing was interesting to me… Here and there, some chapters would appear in some books that would interest me, but again I couldn’t find myself. At one point I came to terms with the fact that I would finish college that I don’t like, that I would get stuck in a job that didn’t work for me, until one day, when my attitude completely changed.
It was about mid-September, I have just finished the exams, and I was thinking about getting a job. After reviewing all the job listing pages, where I found absolutely nothing, I got a little annoyed and started browsing through Instagram stories. On one of them was an add with lonac.pro. I decided to take a closer look at the add, and the first thing that caught my attention was that the internship was paid. Honestly, it was the first time I heard about the Mozaik Foundation and lonac.pro. I thought it sounded too good to be true, but come on, I said, apply. I immediately received an answer with tasks and links to questions that need to be answered. I really liked that. I did everything that I needed to do, with a few tips (thanks Berina: D), sent it and waited. Finally, after a few days I got the answer. I was invited for an interview. I was overjoyed and nervous at the same time. First work experience, in the office, in my profession, with strangers. During the conversation, I met people from finance, Ena, Selma, Aldin and Dinka, an intern at the time. I’ve never seen a more relaxed work atmosphere, and afterwards they just kept delighting me.
When I was hired in the financial-administrative department of the Mozaik Foundation, I did not only get a job, but also the opportunity to meet three wonderful people, full of positive energy, laughter, so approachable and kind, that I left work every day enthusiastically.
Every day I learned more and more about finance and accounting, learned how work in Navision system, how to use internet banking, how to make reports, review documentation, and much more. At one point I experienced that famous A-HA! effect and realized – finances are something I want to do in life. And every day I learned something new about that area, what invoices look like, the whole payment process and much more. In the last couple of weeks, I have learned how to make reports, so I have prepared reports for 33 municipalities, of course with the great help and support of my wonderful team.
In addition to learning a lot, I also met people who helped me get through the worst days, with their infectious energy. In the office next door, Sanela, Selma M and Luli, three beautiful ladies, who are always smiling, kind and do a great job, you are making our day better, and this organization would not be the same without you. Aldin, Selma and Ena, the best team in the world… thank you once again for everything you taught me, for being there with me, for helping me in everything. I will miss you a lot .. And also, thanks to Vesna Balta, for always being kind to me and answering every question I had.
Thanks again to the team from the first floor, and to the rest of the Mozaik for the opportunity.
I would recommend everyone to apply for the internship, because this experience is worth it!
If you have questions, please let me know and GOOD LUCK 🙂
