The Faculty of Mining in Prijedor presented a digital map of mineral resources and raw materials of the Prijedor area, the first project that is the result of a memorandum of cooperation that this higher education institution signed with the City of Prijedor, it is stated on the city website.
Deputy Mayor of Prijedor, Žarko Kovačević, said that Prijedor was the first local community in Republika Srpska to create such a database.
– The Faculty created this map, and the city subsidized the accommodation of students of this Faculty. This is a reference for a higher education institution. The map will be available on the city’s website. All local communities should follow this example, and we will gladly recommend our Faculty to perform such services for them – said Kovačević.
He emphasized that this map is a product that can be of great benefit to potential investors because their first three questions are whether there are human resources, whether there are exploitable raw materials and what kind of traffic communication to key locations exist.
Stefan Usorac from the Ministry of Energy and Development of Republika Srpska expressed satisfaction that the City of Prijedor was the first to start this work.
– I hope that the same will be done in all regions in order to develop this area and the GDP of the entire Republika Srpska – said Usorac.
Dean of the Faculty of Mining in Prijedor Vladimir Malbašić said that the electronic database shows what Prijedor has when it comes to mineral resources and raw materials, that it is in a way an advertisement of this local community and the possibility of better visibility without which the space for further development and progress would be narrowed.
– The idea of forming interactive databases is the future and is not a finished product but living matter that needs to be constantly updated. This is the initial form and the initial level that should be further developed and commercialized – said Malbašić.
He stated that water resources are represented only in one part and that they will be processed in the next phase in cooperation with competent institutions and companies, and that this database contains information on certain resources, but also phenomena or interesting locations that need geological research.
– In addition to the existing deposits that are used here, there are also potential ones that give even more weight to this base – Malbašić added.
Assistant at the Faculty of Mining, Duško Torbica, said that this platform in the broadest sense provides a basic insight into existing and potential resources, and that it offers three levels of information for registered users.
The first level contains rights, permits, concessions, property relations, licenses, use permit, other quantities and quality of mineral reserves, the possibility of using raw materials and valid geological studies, and the third communication opportunities, projected capacity of the exploitation system, preparation process and final products, and all with graphics, maps, photos and videos.
