“The city of Trebinje was nominated among the six best stories of sustainable tourist destinations with the story “Herzegovinian House”, and the best will be chosen in Berlin,” the Trebinje City Administration announced.
The international jury ranked the story “Herzegovinian House” among the top six in the category of “Local Supply Chains”, with destinations from Peru, Canada, Estonia, Slovenia and Portugal. From the six nominees, the three best stories will be chosen.
With this nomination, Trebinje was given the opportunity to participate and present at the event “ITB Berlin 2022”, within which the ceremony of choosing the best stories about sustainable tourist destinations “Green Destinations Story Awards at ITB Berlin” will be held.
Out of a total of 30 nominated best stories within five categories, the city of Trebinje and the Vipava Valley from Slovenia are the only nominated destinations from the region.
“We hope that the city of Trebinje will be among the finalists and win one of the first three awards,” said Deputy Mayor Dražen Bošković, who is, on behalf of the city, the coordinator of this process.
The City Administration states that at the ceremony sponsored by the ITB, the world’s leading travel fair, the most prominent stories of good practice are presented and awarded every year, within the Top 100 Stories of Sustainable Tourist Destinations competition.
In the first phase of the competition, the city of Trebinje was chosen on that list, with more than 200 candidates competing.
The best story of the audience’s choice will also be chosen.
