The streets of Mostar became an open studio at the beginning of the 13th edition of the Street Arts Festival Mostar, which will last until September 1, 2024.
This international event brought together artists from BiH, the region and the world of different styles and techniques who create their works in attractive city locations.
One of them is Šantićeva Street, recognized as a mural gallery where imposing works of art are created year after year that capture the attention of the general public.
“Šantićeva is the heart of our festival and as such an indispensable location for our progress, where the works of authors who are significant on the world art scene are added year after year. We are grateful that this year we were able to host Lonca from Croatia and Erra from Colombia, who will enrich this open-air gallery”, emphasize the organizers.
The festival’s energy and colors spread to other parts of the city, so the well-known neighborhood Centar 2 was in the focus of the event, given that the work of graffiti pioneer from New York, Lady Pink, was painted there, with whom the Artist Talk program was also held.
Considering that this year SAFMo is experimenting with new art forms, the collaboration with the author from Berlin is particularly noteworthy. Stefan Busch, whose artistic name is Infra, creates his abstract patterns on the van of the Los Rosales Center for Children and Youth.
“This is my favorite collaboration this year, and I am happy that my work will brighten up the everyday life of the users of this center,” says the artist.
In addition to the mentioned names, a significant part of this year’s production are the interventions of artists Berni Puig from Spain and Szyman from Poland, and there is also a young conceptual artist from Banja Luka, Milena Ivić. Every festival year is special, and this year is especially different because of new approaches, different forms and visual solutions where there is no shortage of critical questioning and different artistic solutions.
“The youth power of this year’s festival will be highlighted at the Masterclass program of the Telemach Foundation, where young people from Mostar and other cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina will participate and paint a joint work in Zrinjevac Park under the mentorship of the Atelier Šoln collective from Belgrade,” the SAFMo team emphasizes.
The organizers made an effort to ensure that SAFMo has an accompanying OFF program and invite all those interested to visit the base of the festival, Udrug Rezon, where the “Only Art by Szyman” exhibition and music program will be held in the following days.
SAFMo 2024 is realized with the support of the Embassies in Bosnia and Herzegovina: the USA, Spain, Germany, Brazil and the Kvinna till Kvinna and Telemach Foundation, the City of Mostar, the Tourist Board of the City of Mostar, the OSCE and numerous other friends, donors and sponsors.
