This Monday at the Ljubuški market, the Association “Eko OTPOR” in cooperation with the Association of Persons with Disabilities “Utjeha” from Široki Brijeg organized a presentation of recycled plastic products.
The activities we implemented in Široki Brijeg last Friday, and now in Ljubuški, are the first public presentations of recycled products that we are very proud of. We are proud primarily that the citizens themselves have recognized the importance of recycling and reusing products.
Plastic products that were thrown away in nature, and now after collection and recycling the products again have their purpose in another form such as – flower vases, cans, spatulas, coasters, consumables for ceramics, … which many citizens have received back as a gift and can use in their daily use, for work or hobby.
The project is supported by the United States Agency for International Development – USAID, the Center for Civic Cooperation and the Association of Citizens “Grahovo” within the project LocalWorks – Together for Local Development.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the citizens of Ljubuški who visited our stand and supported recycling. Additionally, numerous agreements for further cooperation with the Association of Persons with Disabilities “Utjeha” from Široki Brijeg were made, which recycles and sells recycled products to consumers. This kind of cooperation will certainly contribute to the protection of the environment.
We are pleased to have received a lot of feedback on the numerous illegal plastic landfills. Given that a large amount of plastic is used in the market, such as crates. When it comes to plastic recycling, we set up a container that would be used for this type of waste and will be regularly transported from one place to recycling.
We liked the idea regarding the joint plastic container. In the coming days, we will establish cooperation with the representatives of the City of Ljubuški and see what we can do about it because we are convinced that it is in everyone’s interest to have as few plastic products as possible. Landfills ultimately destroy not only nature but also human and animal health.
Since its founding, the Eko OTPOR Association has been dealing with locating and publishing information on illegal landfills, as well as other numerous environmental pollution in the West Herzegovina Canton. Our mission is to draw attention to those parts of the problem where they often act in collaboration with a number of institutions in fighting against such illegal actions to the detriment of nature, animal and human health.
Numerous media, local communities, institutions, as well as our citizens, are great support to us in changing the awareness on protection of nature, and we are grateful to them, because only together we can change something!
