The traditional jumps from the Old Bridge in Mostar have never been interrupted, neither during the war nor during the pandemic. Brave jumpers jump every day and leave breathless all visitors of the city on the Neretva River. From this season, in addition to jumping, zip-line, boating, tourists can also experience a new attraction – the largest swing in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
From the early morning, jumpers are waiting for the first passers-by and those who are willing to pay for a jump from a height of over 20 meters. It’s a working day. There are not many visitors, and there are few who decide to give money for a jump.
“It’s very high and dangerous. I admire people jumping from this height. I would never dare,” said a tourist from Egypt.
“I wouldn’t dare to jump either, and maybe I would for the money,” said a tourist from Turkey.
Although the situation is improving compared to last year, the situation is still difficult, far from solid. But despite the difficult circumstances, both jumpers and tour workers make a huge effort to attract guests. Thus, detailed preparations for the traditional jumps from the Old Bridge have already begun, which is reserved for the last week in July.
“It is a tradition that will never die out while we are here. In 1993. when the Old Bridge was demolished, we organized the jumps from the remains of the bridge and during the pandemic. And as long as we live here and Mostar exists, there will be jumps because Mostar is recognizable by the Old Bridge“, commented Lorens Listo, president of the Mostar Diving Club.
And in order to be recognizable by other things, the people of Mostar work year after year to enrich the adrenaline content. One of them is a boat ride that takes a few minutes. The view extends under several bridges of the city, but also on the zip-line. One is near the Old Bridge and the other is on Fortica Hill.
Another in a series of tourist attractions, thanks to which Mostar has become richer, is a huge swing that is attached to a glass bridge, which offers a beautiful view of the city.
The swing is located 12 meters above the ground, and the length of the swing is about ten meters.
“By swinging above the city itself, the feeling of the height is even greater, considering that below you can see the city that is 400 meters lower and below you. You have the entire Mostar valley in front of you, so that feeling is exciting,” said Đani Rahimić, president of the Mountain Bike Association MTBA.
It is a novelty that caused great enthusiasm among visitors.
“It was great, a beautiful view. Adrenaline is always good, the guys who work there are professionals“, stated Almir Čomaga.
A new adrenaline adventure awaits all Mostar residents and guests in August this year.
The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Championship, which will bring together the best divers in the world for the sixth time on the Old Bridge.
