“It’s not just me who deserves this, there are many people helping other, this is just the beginning. This would not be possible without them”, emphasized Šutić.
“There can be difficult moments, but such recognitions get me back on track. It means to me that my work is seen, appreciated and respected”, said for Bljesak.info the winner of the award ‘Herzegovinian of the Year’ Jelena Šutić.
Namely, Šutić won the award in the category ‘Humanity’ and won the most votes. “It’s not just me who deserves this, there are a lot of people helping, this is just the beginning. It would not be possible without them”, emphasized Šutić. She states that she will continue with her humanitarian work and does not plan to leave the families she helps, at least until they ‘get back on their feet’. Šutić was born and raised in Mostar, where her parents arrived from Zenica, and, as she points out with a laugh, there was a family confusion as to whether she was Herzegovinian or Bosnian.
Let us remind you, Šutić is a humanitarian student who started the Instagram profile “Pomozi mojoj nevjeri”, which has grown into a page that deals with humanitarian work and changes lives. She and her followers (donors) make Herzegovina a more beautiful place to live and with their humanitarian work feed, dress and entertain those who are currently in a difficult life situation.
Let us remind you, the selection for ‘Herzegovinian of the Year’ was held on Tuesday at the Herceg Stjepan Kosača Home. Numerous recognitions and awards were presented in 15 categories, and the well-known Mostar lawyer Nada Dalipagić received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
In the category ‘Winner on social networks’, the award went to Neda Krajinović Ljubić from Mostar, while in the category ‘Heroes of everyday life’ it went to Dubravka Jovanović from Šurmanci. The second award of the organizing committee went to Irena Kelava from Tomislavgrad, the third to Danijela Džakula from Stolac and the fourth to Sanijela Matković from Široki Brijeg.
The recognition of the media partner went to Dubravka Dropulić Duba from Vrgorac, and the honorary award ‘Hometown Guardian’ went to the hundred-year-old grandmother Iva Penava near Batin in Posušje. Ruža Šunjić won the title of ‘Herzegovinian from Emigration’, while Anđelka Borošak was awarded in the category ‘Herzegovinian from Croatia’. In the category ‘International Promotion of Herzegovina’, the award was won by Monika Milićević, while in the category ‘Economy and Social Activities’, Gabrijela Dugandžić. The award in the category ‘Culture’ was won by Tonćika Kolobarić, and in the special category ‘Sport’ the Mostar swimmer Lana Pudar was awarded.
