“Sarajevo Originals is a story that arose spontaneously, growing up in this city and wanting to show Sarajevo as this city stands for. It is important to note that these are the works of photographers who mostly come from Sarajevo, of course we also collaborate with authors who come from other parts of the world, and who managed to capture beautiful moments in our city,” said Kapo.
He said that Sarajevo has long been synonymous with war and some ugly events from that period and that these events have left an indelible mark in our history, but that we have many more beautiful things to offer and on the basis of which we can be known.
“Sarajevo is a city that hides a lot of talented and educated people who unfortunately not seen and their “5 minutes” never come. Our idea from the very beginning was to build a strong enough community, connect young people with similar interests, exchange experiences, and implement joint projects“, explained Šahin.
Love of photography
Namely, in August this year, Kapo signed an agreement on co-financing a business idea with funds from the budget of the Stari Grad Municipality. Less than four months after that, he organized his first solo exhibition of photographs on Canvas. From the funds paid, he started a business and prepared an exhibition of his brand “Sarajevo Originals”, where he presented more than 30 unique photographs of Sarajevo made in frames and on Canvas.

“My love for photography and art in general came about when I was attending the high school. Thanks to the curriculum and professional staff, I had the opportunity to study art, entrepreneurship, economics and marketing in a creative way. Working on projects with professors, I gained quality knowledge and skills that I still use in my daily work“, explained Kapo, adding that the connection between his first profession and what he is currently doing is that Law is a social science that regulates relations in a certain social community and that they are the first Instagram page that respected copyright when publishing photos from the beginning.
In addition to photographs, this young craftsman also works on the production of postcards, as well as unique checkers.
“Apart from the photos we make in frames and on Canvas, we also offer postcards that capture beautiful moments of Sarajevo, and with which you can surprise your loved one. There is also a product that we have worked hard on. These are unique cloth bags with Sarajevo motifs. It is an excellent fabric that is hemmed with top quality thread that can withstand even the most imaginative shopping“, said Šahin.

Šahin said that when setting prices, they tried to be as realistic as possible, taking into account the purchasing power of the population of our country.
“The quality of our products is our number one priority, because we want our products to be used for a long time and for customers to be satisfied with their use. Our goal is to create beautiful memories that will be remembered for a long time. We offer products ranging from 7 BAM to 120 BAM. We are also working hard on other products that we plan to present during the next year, so there will be beautiful things for everyone“, he said.

It takes a lot of courage, effort and commitment to put an idea into action and even more to survive.
“I think it’s important to give young people a chance, no matter what they are doing. New generations are coming that have better solutions to the problems we face every day. We as individuals must be there to support our friends because we grow together“, emphasized this young craftsman.
The process of making photographs on Canvas
When making the photos, his friends Kerim Alić and Eldin Đapo help him, who, as Šahin says, have been with him from the beginning.
“Digital printing on paper is ready for delivery relatively quickly, while printing on Canvas painting is a bit more demanding and it can take several hours until the product is ready for delivery. We currently have all the products you can find in our shop in stock, so delivery is done immediately after receiving the order“, explained Kapo.

His business is based on online sales because he realized that it will reduce the cost of eventual lease of office space, which is of great importance for a new business because he manages to save a significant amount on a monthly basis.
“Business is doing better than we expected. We recently exhibited our products as part of the “Winter Magic” at Skenderija, so we follow people’s reactions. I can freely say that photographs, like other products, do not leave anyone indifferent“, said Šahin.
