The global tourist magazine “Time Out” ranked Bihać among the perfect city destinations for holiday, entertainment and natural beauty, and the text titled “16 best city holidays in Europe for 2022” was shared by the prestigious “Daily Mail” in its online edition. The best urban “emerging destinations” were chosen by Time Out travel writers based on their gastronomic offer, culture, entertainment and local spirit.
The Mayor of Bihać, Šuhret Fazlić, characterized this as a great recognition and exceptional promotion, but also as an obligation for the next period.
“Great thing for our tourism and I am especially glad for all the citizens who currently live in our city. This recognition is due to all those who contribute to the development of tourism, who guard and protect the Una River, and participate in the realization of all our efforts and projects. The generators of tourism development in this area are the Una National Park and the Tourist Board of the City of Bihać, and of course they are especially grateful. This is also a great encouragement before the upcoming tourist season, but now we have to work even harder on arranging and promoting all destinations, which will attract more visitors with their attractive offers“, emphasized Mayor Fazlić.
The trim trail from the city center to the medieval town of Sokolac, the Japodska Islands, waterfalls in the National Park, Eco-village Natura Art and Kostelski Buk have been confirmed as some of the many attractions in the city in northwest Bosnia and Herzegovina, offering adventure and relaxation.
The President of the Una-Sana Tourist Cluster, Adnan Mekić, pointed out that the inclusion of Bihać among the best city tourist destinations in Europe must be an incentive to build eco-tourism, i.e., to create a unique tourist offer.
“I am really glad that our last year’s guest John Bills brought such impressions from Bihać, that our city ranked 11th on the list of the most desirable destinations in Europe. The travel writer of the prestigious tourist magazine Time Out was impressed by the city area, as a separate natural oasis. This must be an incentive for us to develop and build eco-tourism, but also specific offers that will not be found anywhere in our environment“, added Mekić.
In a Time Out article, Bihać was underlined as a destination on the banks of the magical Una River, described by travel writer John Bills as the most beautiful river in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the surrounding area, explaining that the city on the Una to the Una Valley.
All tourism workers are convinced that this way of promotion will help them in the realization of the next season, which is already being prepared and welcomed with special wishes and aspirations.
